JANE DELORIE
MMHA CHAIR

A member of MMHA since 2017, Jane’s career spans more than 35 years in senior management of global organisations as well as her own pan African enterprises. Alongside her professional growth in Marketing and Social research, Jane has always been both passionate about and deeply immersed in social change initiatives and believes strongly in “volunteerism”. Her involvement in building social enterprises through NGOs and not-for-profit organisations culminated in conceptualising and building The Children’s Village, a home in Kenya with the capacity to care for 100 orphans.

Jane believes her core values of OPENNESS, FAIRNESS, and FIDELITY, and her innate ability to CONNECT and COMMUNICATE are valuable life skills. Now retired from full-time employment Jane offers mentoring services with the goal of using her considerable knowledge and expertise to influence a new generation of leaders.

MIHAD COOWAR

An MMHA member since 2008 Mihad Coowar currently holds the position of Secretary and is the Board Member responsible for Policies and Procedures. Mihad is well qualified for this role with more than 29 years’ experience in Human Resource Management. Having started his career in the UK with the British Railways Board in the capacity of Admin Clerk, he rose to the post of Human Resources Manager before leaving in October 1995 to come to Mauritius. Here Mihad has worked for a number of large companies namely: Currimjee Group (HRM); BAI Group (Vice President-HR) & presently MMI Group as HRM.

Mihad values integrity, honesty and hard work very highly and attempts to live up to his own high expectations and as well as try to exceed the expectations of his peers. He endeavours to be a role model and mentor for his subordinates by passing on the benefits of his experience so that they can give the best of themselves.

HARLEY JUSTE  
TREASURER

Harley Juste is founder and director of Premium Pest Control. Earlier in his career Harley worked with three companies before helping to create a fourth.

It was after a bitter experience that Harley Juste decided to start his own business in February 2008. The experience is conclusive. Today, the company is well established in Chebel and has a branch in Rodrigues.  It was even present in Madagascar, but had to close its doors after two years of operations, following the political crisis, which affected that country.

Harley Juste also represents Mauritius in International Athletics competition as announcer since 2015.

DR MICHAEL ATCHIA

“I was proud to be part of the original team which carried out the Mauritianisation of the school curriculum and wrote the first text-books.”  

Michael Atchia is a senior Mauritian consultant in the Education, Curriculum Development and Planning and in the Environmental Education sectors, with wide international experience. He gained his professional experience in both developing countries (of Africa, Asia, and South America) and in Eastern and Western Europe/North America/Australia and is credited with having launched the new field of integrated environmental management as the co-author of the publication by John Wiley in 1995 of ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS,

From 1997 to 2003, after his retirement from the UN, he was a Director of Education in Mauritius responsible for 77 Diocesan institutions, he is also, a regular press  commentator and, for over 40 years, a presenter of Educational TV programmes with the Mauritius College of the Air.

He is currently President of the Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology and Secretary General of AFICS-Mauritius, the association of former UN Staff.

DOMINIQUE AVICE  

“My involvement in MMHA is quite simple, I believe in empowering people, especially those not in the mainstream”
Dominique Avice is a global citizen with a wide and varied range of interests.
After growing up and attending high school here in Mauritius, Dominique went on to university in Reunion, then France and thereafter Australia.
Dominique describes herself as a humanist who believes in helping others. Placing high value on empathy, she tries to approach challenges with compassion.
A life-long learner, Dominique is herself a full time secondary school teacher.

ALWYN PRAYAG

"I like to help needy people." 

Alwyn Prayag has served on the MMHA Governing Committee since 2009.

After a long career in government service at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, he is now retired from the position of Manager (Procurement and Supply). Holder of a Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management, Alwyn describes himself as having “the gift of hospitality”.

He enjoys interactions with people and his goal in his retirement is to do what he can “to help the needy”.

GUILIANO AMEER 

“I believe in ‘together we can’. Alone we may go faster but together we go further.”

Guiliano Ameer is a sports coach with over 20 years experience working with individuals and teams to make sure they become the best they can be.Hei has been team coach and manager for the Mauritius delegations to Senior African Games and Maurice/Reunion Games.

Currently he is Head Coach in Athletics for the Black River Region and also responsible for the Regional Training Centre of Bambous. Guiliano has worked with MMHA as Sports Officer since 2015.

Under his guidance the MMHA football team have been National Champions for three consecutive years and we were also national champions in the Handi-Sport Games 2018.
MMHA holds the title of school who bring most winning athletes during athletics competition.

GERALDINE L’ECLUSE

“To give part of our time to those in need is the greatest gift which could be offered”

Geraldine L’Ecluse is a Retail Marketing Manager, a profession which she credits with helping her deal with day to day challenge in life. Being the woman official announcer in athletics events for the African region has given her the opportunity to get involved with people from different cultures and this has helped her grow and develop her personality.

Since young, Geraldine has been ever-present in social services. Starting with helping young children who were having difficulties in studies, she is now looking after deprived children from the west coast enabling them to have a better way of life.

Geraldine lives by her motto: where there is a will everything is possible.
